Make better decisions

Get help to choose a course you can easily commit to

Your school selections won't matter if you choose the wrong programmes. The programmes you choose only use your results as cutoff points. With the new way SHS programmes are structured, the goal isn't just passing WASSCE any longer. It is about giving you the right foundations to guide your vocation eventually.

This tool is going to help you uncover the strengths inside of you and attempt matching them to existing skills in different vocations so you can make a program choice that matches your personal strengths. Which is an advantage for motivation when things get rough.

Before we start

Two things worth knowing

Have you ever heard someone say about an older relative, "eii, this one hasn't changed at all since JHS"? Think about that for a second. Their body has definitely changed, their face, their height, everything you can see. So what actually didn't change? That's the real question. What stayed the same is the person underneath, how they think, how they treat people, who they actually are. That's the self, and it isn't your results, your looks, or your reputation.

Inside that self, you carry two kinds of strength. Skill strengths are things you do well, like drawing, organising, fixing, explaining. Character strengths are things about how you are, like your patience, your fairness, your curiosity, your courage. Both are real evidence about you, and both matter for choosing a course that actually fits.

We're going to help you uncover both, one at a time.

Skill strengths Step 1 of 2

Let's find your skill strengths

Answer these as honestly as you can. If you get stuck, tap the box and we'll show you some examples to jog your memory.

Question 1 of 3

What's something you're good at, that you've noticed other people around you visibly struggle with?

Question 2 of 3

What do people always ask you to help with, even on days you don't feel like doing it?

Question 3 of 3

What's something you taught yourself to love, that nobody sat you down and taught?

Part two

Now let's look at your character

This next part is 24 short statements. For each one, ask yourself honestly, has this actually happened to me, a real moment I can picture? If yes, mark it. If nothing comes to mind, leave it blank.

6 of 24 Part 1 of 4

Has this actually happened to you?

Tap the ones you can picture a real moment for. Leave the rest blank — a blank isn't a failure.

There's something you kept asking "but why does it actually work that way?" about, days or even weeks after everyone else had already moved on, maybe how a phone charges, why the moon changes shape, or why a law works the way it does.
When you had to finish a project, put together an outfit, plan a surprise, or even find a way to sneak in extra reading time past a strict parent, you found a different way to do it instead of just copying what everyone else was doing.
When your friends were already blaming one person for something before anyone had heard their side, you found yourself wanting to hear that person out before deciding what you actually believed.
You've taught yourself something completely outside class, maybe editing videos, understanding crypto, cooking a new dish, or playing an instrument, off YouTube or from someone older, purely because you wanted to know it, not because it would ever be graded.
A friend came to you confused about a fight with a parent, or a falling-out with another friend, and instead of just taking their side, you helped them actually see what the other person might have been feeling too.
You told a teacher, a parent, or a group of friends the true version of what happened, even though it meant admitting your own friends, or even you, were partly wrong.
Working it out

Here's how we're working this out

We're matching your answers to real Ghanaian SHS programmes, based on patterns from students like you. It's not perfect — sometimes what you meant doesn't come through exactly right, or a match might feel a little off.

If that happens, don't worry about it. Reach out to us directly and we'll go through it with you, one on one.

Your results

Here's what we found.

This is the end of this part of the journey. Here's what your own answers showed us.

Your skill strengths
Your character strengths
Your top course choices for the next stage

You can now use this to guide your school selection. Once you know which programmes you actually want, it becomes much easier to know which schools to look at.

What's next

This is just the surface. There's a lot more underneath it.

What you just did, thinking about your strengths, your character, what you're actually drawn to, is a small taste of something bigger. There's a free bootcamp that takes this much further. It walks you through understanding who you really are underneath your results, discovering your fuller strengths, and learning how to actually live a purposeful life with what you've found.

Now that you know your preferred courses, use Sukumor to find your schools.
